Welcome to STARFLEET Marine Corps, an operational and permanent auxiliary unit of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. (or SFI/STARFLEET for short).  Known as the SFMC, STARFLEET Marines is one of the largest continually operating military themed Star Trek groups in existence.  The SFMC falls under the purview of the Vice Commander STARFLEET.

Members within the SFMC include veterans and active duty military of various nations and branches, as well as members of SFI who prefer to have a "military aspect" to their Star Trek fan activities.  Organized along traditional real world Navy lines like the "Ships" within SFI, the SFMC utilizes the ground force equivalents such as "Brigades" and "Strike Groups".

Much like our real world counterparts, a significant amount of focus within the SFMC associates with the assistance of military members, veterans and their families on a national level.  For example, some major projects at the national level are: Operation Eagle, the Overseas Coupon Project, and the annual United States marine Corps' "Toys for Tots" holiday drive.  On a brigade and unit level, there is a push for local community help and charity, with physical engagement with the community rather than check writing.

The prerequisite for joining the SFMC is to be a member of SFI in good standing, also known as a paid member of SFI.  Your local Chapter often will have a unit, or Marine Strike Group (MSG), for you to join.  If it does not, there are several options available to you, from starting a unit for your Chapter to joining a Unit that already exists.  These will be explained in further detail in orientation.
